First, thank you for your very kind comments relative to my photo. I was approximately 10 feet away, but the little critters are so small that I still had to crop the final image significantly in Photoshop. I shoot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II (Full Frame Sensor camera body) and a Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di VC zoom lens. I used to shoot with a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.0-5.6L USM IS len ($1,400 USD), but could never seem to get a quality shot (all images were soft at various aperature settings). Another "Pro" told me about the new Tamron lens at $400 USD. After trying it (and having sent my Canon lens back to the factory twice for adjustment), I sold my Canon lens. The Tamron is "Superb" and 1/3 the price ... the IQ (Image Quality) surpasses the Canon in my humble opinion. The build quality is not as solid as the Canon "L" glass, but it is much lighter to hand-hold. This lens has my highest recommendation ... you can see how sharp the IQ is even after significantly cropping the image. Hope this helps.

Absolutely amazing shot. How close were you, or what length lens did you use?
